Then, you're all buddy-buddy with the humans against the aliens. One moment, you're being coddled by human soldiers battling the aliens the next, you're fighting both the humans and the aliens. "Huh?" moments are dotted throughout the story. One of the most interesting aspects of MorphX is that the tough, tattooed protagonist is slowly transforming into an alien (arm first.) Nothing is explained very well, though. As the game begins, you're on the run from this treatment and trying to escape some kind of alien base in the ruins of the city. All that's left is a smoking ruin-even good old Moscow-where you and other people are being infected with some sort of virus that morphs people into insectoid ETs. That clip sets the stage for the single-player campaign (the only mode of play available), which deals with the apocalyptic aftereffects of nasty aliens destroying the planet. You know you're in trouble right at the opening cutscene, which is a dated piece of work loaded with some of the worst acting this side of a Mexican soap opera. One tiny spoiler-you don't look like this when the game begins. So what starts out as an interesting twist on the standard console shooter soon turns into an annoying experience. All of the intriguing ideas are buried under huge problems with things like spectacularly hard difficulty in the early going, confusing level design, and spread-out save points. I agree with slothlad001 in most of his opinions, especially with the customization of the upgrade system (personally, I think more games should have that particular feature). I'm currently stuck on the final boss, but it shouldn't be too much longer before I beat it. To those who are complaining about the game being pitch-black at some parts, there is a simple solution and that is the Alien Vision (the first mutation, if I remember correctly). My first thought playing it was that it had GTA-like graphics, but I kept in mind that graphics don't make the game, the story and gameplay does. I'm Personally, I enjoyed the game mainly for the evolution. Personally, I enjoyed the game mainly for the evolution. Ignore what other (lesser) reviewers said about the difficulty being too high and enemies shooting through walls, its total bull. Whilst the voice acting isn't stellar, it never gets annoying and the actual background music is always appropriate and genuinely enjoyable. The worst thing about the game by far is the darkness though, it makes traversing the level difficult as the way forward can be completely hidden and the first you see of some enemies is when they start attacking you, though most enemies make some kind of noise/glow so you can spot them. The slow transformation is also pretty cool and nicely done (within the confines of the dated graphics, seriously they're mediocre original xbox graphics). The gameplay is enjoyable, if not exactly innovative, the upgrade system deserves special mention being a little puzzle itself and that you can change upgrades on the fly which is damn handy. The slow This game isn't nearly as bad as reviews would have you believe, with its only two flaws really being the dated graphics and pitch black darkness that covers too much of the game.
